ياغامي لايت طالب مُتفوق في مدرسته
في يوم من الأيّام وجد مُفكرّة الموت
وهي مُفكرّة من عالم الشينيغامي وهو عالم الشياطين
وهي تتمتع بقوى تُمكنه من قتل الناس بطُرق بسيطة
لايت قرر أن يُنشأ عالم مثالي بدون جرائم ومُجرمين
عندما بدأ عدد المُجرمين بالأنخفاض واحد تلو الآخر
أرسلت السُلطات مُتعقّب مُحترف يُدعى "إل" لمُلاحقته
وتدور معركة بينهُما مليئة بالغموض والذكاء والخداع
